As part of The Conduit: Wharfespeed project, authors Dr. Amy-Jane Beer and Rob Cowen, and artist Anji Timlin will be talking wildly about their love of the river Wharfe, and all rivers. About how rivers connect us, inspire us and unite us in action.
Art offers us delight, connection to each other and our world, and gives us hope. When we create we pay attention, and the world is showing us signs and messages, the easier path is to ignore them and carry on as if unchanged. But if you turn to look. If you listen to the messages: From other beings, the land, the weather, from other humans, the scientists. The story is frightening. It needs our devotion and attention. Our Wild Service.
Rob and Amy will read some of their latest work (some as yet unpublished) and all around you will be my new collection of large scale, immersive and lyrical paintings about the river Wharfe. Consider yourselves rivered!
This is a free event, and there is no need to book, but there is limited seating available, so please be kind to those less able to stand.
